And the KIRA Goes To…….

Fredericton, NB -- Another gala evening in New Brunswick has resulted in seven new KIRA recipients. The 2007 KIRA Awards again had record nominations and record-breaking attendance. Organizers of the event, worked closely with the Delta Hotel to accommodate the additional requests for tickets.

KIRA’s relationship with the Canadian Information Productivity Awards (CIPA) is continuing and we are proud to say that all KIRA finalists in the categories of Technological Adancement/Innovation for both the Public and Private Sectors are automatic finalists in the national CIPA Awards. First the KIRA’s were a Fredericton event, then four years ago, it became a province-wide industry event and now this year, it will have national implications.

And 2007 KIRA Awards go to:

Export Product
Evention Healthcare Inc.

Export Service
UNB’s College of Extended Learning in Partnership with Don Sayers & Associates

Most Promising Start-up
Evention Healthcare Inc.

Employment Growth
Whitehill Technologies Inc.

Industry Person of the Year

Technological Advancement/Innovation – Private Sector

Technological Advancement/Innovation Public Sector

“The response to this year’s KIRA Awards was absolutely tremendous!” said Lori MacMullen KIRA 2007 Organizing Committee Co-Chair. “The number of nominations that we had this year and the sell-out rate clearly demonstrates that the knowledge industry in New Brunswick is more vibrant than ever. With the tie in to the national CIPA Awards, the KIRA’s continue to grow and generate excitement.”

“This is truly and industry event that is owned and supported by the industry,” said KIRA 2007 Organizing Committee Co-chair, Heather-Anne MacLean. “We see it year after year with the calibre of sponsors, the calibre of nominations and the recipients themselves. It indeed must be a difficult process for the judges of the Awards Selection Committee. We are also pleased to see such wonderful projects go forward as finalists in the CIPA’s. This only further demonstrates the calibre of work done right here in New Brunswick.”
